Australian LNG operator Santos and Singapore Petroleum Co. have received approval from the Indonesian authorities for the Sampang joint venture to proceed with the drilling of the offshore Paus Biru-1 exploration well in the Madura Strait.

Tohoku Electric Power, the utility based in northeast Japan, said it signed a contract to import LNG from the BP-led Tangguh project in Indonesia.
